In recent years the proliferation of cloud gaming and on-line multiplayer video games raised several challenges for communication networks. Depending on the game genre, a few tens of ms response time is a strict requirement, which is already hard to satisfy owing to the physical distances to the game servers and GPUs in the cloud. Furthermore, user mobility is an additional challenge which should be tackled by dynamic resource allocation in the 5G edge network. The task of the student is to select and analyse one of the above communication problems in cloud and on-line gaming, including but not limited to traffic measurements, dynamic resource allocation methods, or cloud job scheduling approaches. Furthermore, the student can analyse the economics of micro transactions, or work on accessibility features and alternative controls for video games.
