The goal of the project is to create a Python-based application that can evaluate read text (speech) using a machine learning algorithm and provide feedback to the user. The evaluation would take place according to whether or not the speech recording has symptoms typical of Parkinson's disease. For this, the student implements an interface that displays the read text and then records the speech using a microphone. It then invokes a pre-trained feature extraction and classification algorithm, which returns a probability for Parkinson's disease. The project is interdisciplinary: the student can learn about Python-based GUI development, speech processing and studies related to Parkinson's disease.
